METHOD FOR SETTING THE PROCESSOR OF A COCHLEAR IMPLANT Russian patent published in 2022 - IPC A61F11/00

Abstract RU 2778903 C1

FIELD: medical equipment.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine and can be used for setting the processor of a cochlear implant for patients with deafness. The electric evoked action potential of the auditory nerve is recorded on all active channels of the cochlear implant using ECAP at audio frequencies of the speech processor in the range from 409 to 3,062 Hz. A listening setting card is created for the patient, wherein the initial level for each channel is in the range from 3.57 to 4.26 qu. The stimulation level is then increased to values for each channel in the range from 17.86 to 21.32 qu, controlled by testing. At the same time, speech intelligibility is analysed using the auditory training aid installed in a mobile wireless telephone communication apparatus. The mobile telephone communication apparatus is connected to a loudspeaker with an acoustic stimulation intensity of 65 dB at the background noise level of 60 dB, installed at a distance of 1 m from the patient at an angle of 45°. Testing consists in presenting the patient with sounds, phrases, words, and terms in a varying sequence. The patient therein repeats the sounds heard. The level of speech intelligibility is then determined as the number of correct repetitions expressed as a percentage of the total number of presented test words. If the 90% level of speech intelligibility is achieved, the stimulation is no longer increased, the settings of the processor are considered optimal.

EFFECT: method allows for effective setting of the processor of a cochlear implant for patients with deafness.
