FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a catalyst for the selective oxidation of arabinose into arabonic acid and a method for the selective oxidation of arabinose into arabonic acid using this catalyst. The catalyst contains nanoparticles of gold, silver or copper on a carrier, aluminum oxide, at the following ratio of components, wt. %: gold 0.1-0.5; silver or copper 1; aluminum oxide the rest. The method is carried out in an oxygen current at a rate of 2.5 ml/min in an isothermal mode in a periodic reactor with shaking of the reaction mixture at a temperature of 50-70°C and pH of medium 6-9.
EFFECT: creating an effective catalyst for the selective oxidation of arabinose into arabonic acid, which makes it possible to increase the selectivity of the process while maintaining high carbohydrate conversion, increase the stability of the catalyst in successive oxidation cycles, and also reduce the cost of the process by reducing the cost of the catalytic system.
