The claimed catalyst for hydrogenation of pyridine and its derivatives contains monometallic palladium nanoparticles or bimetallic palladium-copper nanoparticles with an average size of 2-3 nm on a carrier: aluminum oxide modified with chitosan.

EFFECT: claimed catalyst makes it possible to increase the selectivity of the process while maintaining a high conversion of the heterocyclic compound, as well as to increase the stability of the catalyst in successive hydrogenation cycles.
