FIELD: pipelines.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of welding production of pipelines and can be used in welding pipe spools of varying sizes, weights, and configurations, and can also be applied to perform various process operations for external and internal surface treatment of cylindrical bodies, or for coating. Rotator comprises an electric engine with variable rotation speed change, installed on the upper platform of a self-propelled carriage configured to move along rail tracks and equipped with an electric hoist for the platform enabling the height of location thereof to be adjusted. The rotator herein is equipped with a rod with a sliding coupling and a gripping apparatus hinged with the coupling. The rod is attached via two flange half-couplings to the shaft of the electric engine, and the gripping apparatus is made in the form of two parallel plates configured for the end of the wall of the rotated pipe spool to be placed between said plates, and a clamping apparatus mounted on the outside of one of said plates, configured for the wall of the pipe spool to be pressed against the other plate.

EFFECT: possibility of structurally simplifying the rotator and increasing the reliability of operation thereof.
