FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, namely ophthalmology. The optical strength of a multifocal intraocular lens (IOL) is calculated, phacoemulsification (PEC) is performed, optical coherence tomography (OCT) and IOL implantation are performed. At the same time, before the operation, the optical strength of the multifocal and spare monofocal IOL is calculated, PEC is performed under intra-chamber anesthesia, the main incision and paracentesis are hydrated and the patient is sent to the OCT to determine the state of the macular zone of the retina. In the absence of pathology of the macular zone, a multifocal IOL is implanted in the patient. In the presence of a focus of macular atrophy, the patient is assessed for visual acuity with an aphakic correction and, based on the results obtained and their discussion with the patient, implantation of a pre-calculated monofocal IOL is performed.
EFFECT: method reduces the risks of developing intraocular infections by performing a one-stage surgical intervention while maintaining high reliability of the state of the macular zone of the retina, and provides a high degree of patient satisfaction with the results of the operation.
