SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods for the study of hydrocarbon fuels (HCF) released from the volume of environmental water bodies polluted by them. The method includes taking samples of polluted water and samples of oil products from pollution sources; separating oil products from water to obtain an analyzed sample and comparison samples; fractionation of the analyzed sample of dark oil products by distillation at atmospheric pressure to obtain fractions of light oil products; determination of the values ​​of physicochemical parameters of HCF and their fractions; obtaining IR spectra, chromatograms by capillary gas chromatography in high-performance simulated distillation mode; calculation of the values ​​of the classification coefficient K and determination of the group, subgroup, brand of HCF, as well as the type of production process for the production of fuels for HCF with the same type of K values ​​based on its values; calculation of values ​​of coefficient N of coincidence of chromatograms; implementation of the identification of the source of pollution of the water object of the HCF environment as the establishment of a comparison sample, for the chromatogram of which the value of the coefficient N of coincidence with the chromatogram of the analyzed sample is maximum.

EFFECT: ensuring the efficiency of identification of sources of pollution of the water body of the environment of the UWT, as well as increasing the information content and reliability of its results.
