FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, namely to ultrasound diagnostics, and can be used for ultrasound diagnostics of the age of a venous thrombus by shear wave elastography. An ultrasound examination is carried out in B-mode and in color duplex scanning mode. After that, the position of the operator's hand is fixed on the examined area of the patient's body in a stationary state, the shear wave elastography mode is switched on, the position of the hand is fixed for 4 s, and an image of the area of interest is obtained. The lumen of the vein free from a thrombus is not stained, the areas of the vein with a thrombus in the lumen are mapped in different colors, which is reflected on the color scale in the monitor. To quantify the rigidity of a thrombus in the area under study, several control volumes are measured in turn using the Q-box button in zones of the same size and located at the same depth. Three values of Young's modulus are determined in each zone of interest. Thrombus rigidity in the range from 1 to 25 kPa corresponds to the acute stage of thrombosis, which dictates the need for surgical treatment in order to prevent venous thromboembolic complications. Thrombus stiffness in the range from 26 to 50 kPa corresponds to the subacute stage, which dictates the need for surgical treatment in order to prevent venous thromboembolic complications. Thrombus stiffness in the range of more than 50 kPa corresponds to the chronic stage, which requires conservative treatment - the appointment of anticoagulants in a prophylactic dose, or the use of antiaggregants.
EFFECT: method provides for determining the age of a venous thrombus by assessing the stiffness of the thrombus by shear wave elastography.
