FIELD: medicine, radiation diagnostics and dentistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used to study the temporomandibular joint (TMJ). Computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), radiography of the TMJ are performed. After that, the obtained data of CT, MRI and X-ray of the TMJ are loaded into the memory of the ultrasound machine in the DICOM format. An ultrasound examination (ultrasound) is performed using an ultrasound machine with a virtual navigation module, an ultrasonic linear sensor with a frequency of 2–15 MHz is installed perpendicular to the skin surface in the projection of the temporomandibular joint. Using Fusion technology, the ultrasound image and images obtained from CT, MRI and X-ray of the TMJ are merged, setting reference points on the TMJ. The condyle or articular tubercle is used as reference points. Ultrasound of the temporomandibular joint is performed in real time in grayscale mode, in the mode of color duplex scanning, ultrasonic elastography and echocontrast, comparing the data of ultrasound of the temporomandibular joint with the data of CT, MRI and radiography of the temporomandibular joint. The range of motion of the TMJ in the vertical plane, right and left, forward in the virtual navigation module is recorded, the contours, structure, stiffness in kPa, displacement and presence of effusion, vascularization, stiffness of the TMJ disc in kPa, contours, structure of masticatory muscles and paraarticular ligamentous apparatus are determined.
EFFECT: method helps to study the function and condition of the TMJ in dynamics and assess the effectiveness of the therapy through the use of multimodal radiation diagnostics using Fusion technology.
