FIELD: medicine; ultrasound diagnostics; maxillofacial surgery.
SUBSTANCE: examinations are carried out with the help of an ultrasound machine in the modes of duplex color scanning and ultrasonic shear wave elastography using two linear sensors with frequencies of 2–10 and 4–15 MHz. Then the coefficient of correct callus formation (PFC) is calculated according to the formula: PFC=CS/S×100%, where CS is the current stiffness at 1 week, 1, 3 and 6 months after the mandibular fracture, S is the stiffness of the adjacent bone fragment. The formation of callus is monitored after 1, 3 and 6 months. If the value of the PFC is up to 1 week after the fracture: 8.6 ± 0.75%, 1 month after fracture: 55.4 ± 2.4%, 3 months after the fracture: 118.6 ± 6.15%, 6 months after the fracture: 134.5 ± 7.3%, the correct formation of the callus of the lower jaw is determined.
EFFECT: method allows to identify and control the formation of callus at its various stages after a mandibular fracture.
