FIELD: protective coatings.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to compositions for formation of slip non-firing protective coating against oxidation and can be used in chemical, metallurgical, aviation industries and, for example, in production of carbon-silicon-carbide materials and products from them. The composition for forming a slurry non-firing protective coating against oxidation contains a sol of silicic acid as a binder, and a mixture of hafnium carbide 75-94 wt.% and silicon carbide 6-25 wt. %. The ratio in the composition between the silica sol and the powder filler is, in parts by weight, from 1:1.5 to 3:4, depending on the composition of the powder filler. The composition may further contain 0.5 wt. % solution of antifoam in silicic acid ash.

EFFECT: increased efficiency of protection against oxidation of the coating formed on the basis of the specified composition in the temperature range of 1550-1800°C.
