SUBSTANCE: invention relates to construction and can be used in the construction of shallow foundations of buildings on seasonally freezing heaving soils. The device for protecting the base of the foundation from freezing includes a blind area and a heater. The blind area is made of box sections, in the transverse walls and bottom of which there are holes, the valves on which are longitudinal corner elements with end stiffeners, and the elastic insulation plates are placed inside the box sections.
EFFECT: increasing the operational reliability of the blind area with thermal insulation, designed to protect the base of a shallow foundation from freezing.
