FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to the microhydrodynamic isolation of circulating tumour cells from blood samples. Proposed is a method for separating particles by size using a hydrofoil asymmetric relative to the chord line, wherein the chord connects the front and rear faces of the hydrofoil. According to the method, the particles are directed towards the asymmetric hydrofoil along the flow line aligned with the central axis, wherein said axis is parallel to the flow and passes through the front face of the hydrofoil. The central axis of the hydrofoil has an attack angle α with the chord line. Disclosed are a method for increasing the degree of separation of two particle distributions, a method for preventing differently sized particles, the resolution whereof has already been increased, from mixing, and an apparatus for preventing separated differently-sized particles from mixing.
EFFECT: improved separation of particles through an asymmetric obstacle in the form of an asymmetric hydrofoil.
