FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, namely, to otorhinolaryngology. Computed tomography of the head is performed in the preoperative period. The following indicators of the structures of the nasal cavity are measured in the resulting digital CT scans: the total width of choanae (TWC), the anterior and posterior height of the nasal cavity (HNCa, HNCp); the height of the pyriform aperture (HPA), the width of the pyriform aperture (WPA), the length of the vomer (LV) and the height of the vomer (HV). Then the height and width of the choanae, which will be formed during the choanotomy, are determined according to the formulas, depending on the age of the patient. For patients from 2 years old, the choanae are made oval. For children from 1 to 1.5 years old, with account to the gender of the patient, the K index is calculated for each variant of the shape according to the formulas. During choanotomy in children from 1 to 1.5 years old, the choanae are made in a shape corresponding to the maximum value of the calculated K index.
EFFECT: possibility of non-invasively determining the linear dimensions of the choanae at the preoperative stage in children and adolescents with the possibility of safe reproduction in children from birth; increasing the accuracy and reliability of the end results.
