SUBSTANCE: invention relates to means of radar determination of the parameters of moving objects and can be used in measuring the initial velocity of a projectile. The method for measuring the initial velocity of the projectile consists in the formation of groups of durations of sections of Doppler pulses with a common beginning. A group of possible velocities and a group of differences between adjacent values ​​in the group of possible velocities are calculated from the group of assumed paths. The distance to the common beginning of the group of proposed paths and the common beginning of the formation of the group of segment durations is made after detection after a given number of Doppler pulses, and the initial speed is taken as the value in the group of possible speeds, after which the difference in the group between adjacent values ​​of possible speeds exceeds the given error.

EFFECT: increased accuracy of projectile velocity measurement by reducing errors.
