FIELD: detection equipment.

SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to the field of equipment for detection, clamp, and release of coils having a round grippable part, such as a flange or a landing hole, as well as to the field of using a corresponding gripper. The gripper contains a controlled clamp for clamping and releasing the grippable part of the coil, made with a size corresponding to a diameter of the round grippable part of the coil, and a scanning system for determination of a position of the axis of the coil, which has two or more sensors made with the possibility of detection of the presence of the coil in a direction parallel to the basic axis of the clamp, while all sensors are located along the same straight line at an equal distance from each other, and the distance between any two adjacent sensors is less than the size of the clamp. Corresponding methods for detection and clamp of coils are also presented.

EFFECT: use of inventions allows for reduction in time and increase in the reliability of search of a grippable part of the coil.
