OPTICAL FIBER IN TIGHT BUFFER COATING, FIBER-OPTIC CABLES AND METHODS FOR APPLICATION OF TIGHT BUFFER COATING TO OPTICAL FIBER (OPTIONS) Russian patent published in 2022 - IPC G02B6/44 H01B11/22

Abstract RU 2782677 C1

FIELD: cable equipment.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to cable equipment, namely: to structures of separate elements and structures of fiber-optic cables in general intended for use in systems for control, onboard communication, and information transmission in marine and underwater vehicles, in different models of aircrafts and spacecrafts, as well as to a technology of their manufacture. For avoidance of damage to optical fibers during the manufacture of a fiber-optic cable and during its operation, it is customary to apply tight buffer coating to optical fiber. In order to protect from the formation of micro-bends at temperatures from minus 50 to minus 60°C, tight buffer coating is applied to optical fiber in primary coating together with at least one reinforcing thread with total linear density of threads of no more than 50 tex. Structures of cables with optical fibers in such buffer coatings are proposed. Methods for application of buffer coatings to optical fiber in primary coating together with reinforcing threads are described. The use of fiber-optic cables with tight buffer coating of optical fibers will allow for use then in mobile devices and stationary devices in Arctic regions, in aircrafts intended for operation in upper atmospheric layers, and spacecrafts for flights in upper atmospheric layers and in the outer space.

EFFECT: protection from the formation of micro-bends of optical fiber, when cooled to a temperature from minus 50 to minus 60°C.
