FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of medicine, namely to, diagnostic radiology, and can be used for magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of the prostate gland in patients with metal structures of the hip joint. The MR compatibility of the implant is tested, the scanning protocol is set, and the condition of the patient is monitored in the process of scanning by means of an audio and video communication system. The scanning protocol is herein set using a phantom containing a prostate gland model with a tumour and a hip implant. The protocol includes the following pulse sequences: T2 WI, T1 WI, DWI, ADC, T1-Dixon with contrast enhancement. In order to set the pulse sequences, the following are used: spin echo (SE) sequences, sequences with suppression of the signal from adipose tissue by short tau inversion-recovery (STIR), increase in the resolution, increase in the multiplicity of parallel data collection, reduction in the echo spacing value, reduction in the slice thickness, reduction in FOV to a size not exceeding the size of the prostate gland by more than 10–15%, bandwidth expansion. The parameters of pulse sequences are configured so that the artifact from the implant does not overlap the prostate gland model and the average signal intensity values in the region for the phantom with and without an implant do not differ by more than 5%. T1-Dixon pulse sequence is applied to create post-contrast images.
EFFECT: unified standard for diagnosing patients with hip endoprostheses using MRI to assess the prostate gland due to the optimal diagnostic algorithm for setting the protocol and conducting the study.
