SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of medicine, namely to rheumatology, and can be used to diagnose anemia of a chronic disease in patients with rheumatoid arthritis. A blood test is carried out, in which the content of the intercellular adhesion molecule-1 (ICAM-1) is determined in the plasma. If a patient with rheumatoid arthritis and anemia has an ICAM-1 concentration in the blood of 1410 ng/ml or more, anemia of a chronic disease is diagnosed. If a patient with rheumatoid arthritis and anemia has an ICAM-1 level in the blood of less than 1410 ng/ml, anemia of chronic disease is excluded.

EFFECT: method provides reducing the labor intensity and cost of the study, increasing sensitivity, specificity and accuracy by determining the plasma content of the intercellular adhesion molecule-1 (Intercellular Adhesion Molecule, ICAM-1) with further determination of the presence or absence of anemia of a chronic disease in a patient with rheumatoid arthritis.
