FIELD: video data processing.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to video encoding tools. Restored pixels are accepted, wherein the restored pixels contain the current block. One or multiple bounding values are determined for processing with an adaptive contour filter (ALF), depending on the bit depth of the central restored pixel in the central ALF processing region. The current output ALF signal for the current block is received, wherein the current output ALF signal contains a weighted sum of the bounded differences of the initial differences. Each of the initial differences is calculated between the first restored pixel in a non-central region of the filter and the central restored pixel. Each of the initial differences herein is bounded in accordance with the corresponding bounding value so as to form one bounded difference. The filtered restored pixels are provided, wherein the filtered restored pixels constitute the current output ALF signal.
EFFECT: increased efficiency of video decoding.
