SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the production of granular CO₂ used in processes of purification of surfaces of parts of industrial equipment and in processes of cooling of industrial and non-industrial facilities and products. A device for the production of granular CO₂ contains a case having a chamber for solid CO₂, made with the possibility of formation of solid CO₂ in it, a pressing element made with the possibility of pressing of solid CO₂ in the chamber for solid CO₂ to provide a transition of at least part of solid CO₂ to a state of highly viscous fluid CO₂. The specified part of solid CO₂, subjected to transition to the state of highly viscous fluid CO₂, is located adjacently to an inner surface of a case wall. The device also contains a casing forming a chamber for liquid CO₂, made with the possibility of reception of liquid CO₂. The chamber for liquid CO₂ is made with the possibility of provision of a contact of liquid CO₂ with areas of the case wall, adjacently to which highly viscous fluid CO₂ is formed. Granular CO₂ and its production method are also proposed.

EFFECT: inventions allow for obtainment of granular CO₂ of high density with high performance and reliability, reduction in wear of pressing elements of a device.
