FIELD: microwave technology.

SUBSTANCE: 7 dB waveguide adder relates to microwave technology and can be used for dividing and summing power in the output amplifier stages used in transmitters for various purposes to increase the output power. The waveguide 7 dB adder consists of a rectangular waveguide (1) and contains five coaxial-waveguide transitions, the connection of which is carried out by means of pins (2-6). The microwave signal from the amplifier through the microstrip line (7) enters the receiving part of the waveguide adder by means of pins, where the electromagnetic oscillation is transmitted through the existing probe (8) to the output part of the adder (9). Coordination in the output part is carried out by the distance of the exciting pins from the short-circuited wall (10) of the summing part of the waveguide, equal to a quarter of the working wavelength (λ work), and the value between the short-circuited pins (11), a multiple of half the working wavelength (λ work). Matching the impedance of the waveguide is carried out by changing the length of the pin. Thus, the optimal position of the probe relative to the short-circuited wall, its length and the length of the short-circuited rod make it possible to tune the waveguide adder in the frequency band.

EFFECT: invention allows to combine a waveguide coaxial transmission line with a microstrip one, which allows to achieve the minimum dimensions of the modules, has low insertion loss, controlled microwave impedance, and the ability to dissipate power in the event of power amplifier failures; these parameters are provided in a sufficiently wide frequency band; the use of the proposed adder makes it possible to improve manufacturability, simplifies the process of setting up the product and, as a result, increases the output power level of the device.
