FIELD: analytical chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to analytical chemistry, in particular to methods for the luminescent determination of terbium, and can be used to determine trace amounts of terbium in the analysis of high-purity lanthanides. A luminescent method for the determination of terbium is proposed, including its conversion into a luminescent complex compound with an organic reagent (R), characterized in that ciprofloxacin is used as an organic reagent in the ratios Tb:R=1:2 at pH=5.8±0.1 s the lower detection limit of 5.61⋅10–8 g/ml Tb and after sorption concentration on the AB-17 sorbent was 4.6⋅10–9 g/ml Tb, and to obtain solutions of lanthanide chlorides, their oxides are preliminarily calcined for one hour in a muffle furnace at a temperature of 650-700°C and cooled in a desiccator, a sample of lanthanide oxides, according to the calculations of their concentrations, is treated with hydrochloric acid and H2O2, and then the solution is evaporated, then the dry residue of rare earth elements is dissolved in distilled water, and when irradiated with UV light, a green glow is observed terbium ion colors.

EFFECT: method allows to reduce the detection limit, increase the stability, sensitivity and selectivity of the luminescent method for the determination of terbium.
