FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to analytical chemistry and can be used in determining trace amounts of neodymium when analysing high-purity lanthanides. First, a weighed portion of lanthanide oxides containing neodymium is calcined for one hour in a muffle furnace at temperature of 650–700 °C, cooled in a desiccator, treated with hydrochloric acid and H2O2. Solution is then evaporated, and the dry residue is dissolved in distilled water to obtain a solution containing neodymium chloride. Organic reagent (R) used is guanidine methacrylate (MAG). To prepare the luminescent complex compound, said solutions of the same molar concentration 1⋅10-3M, mixing them in molar ratio Nd:R = 1:1 at pH = 7.0 ± 0.1 and observing luminescence of the obtained complex compound at wavelength λ = 880 nm.

EFFECT: reduction of Nd detection limit from MAG to 6.3 × 10-8 g/ml of Nd.
