FIELD: medicine; medical equipment; experimental biology; neurosurgery; tissue engineering; regenerative medicine.
SUBSTANCE: in vivo bioreactor for restoration of the integrity of spinal cord pathways after an anatomical break and stimulation of neuro-regeneration in a traumatic spinal cord disease contains chamber walls forming a container, fittings and tubes for supply and extraction of substance from its cavity. At the same time, edges of sidewalls of the bioreactor chamber rest on sawn lateral processes of vertebrae, bioreactor walls have metal junctions with vertebrae bodies. The chamber itself is located inside the body directly above the bared injured spinal cord, under complete skin, above the device. Fittings for supply and extraction of special sterile solutions close in their physical and chemical parameters to isotonic solutions and cultural nutrient media, used in cell technologies and cell culture methods, with biologically active substances stimulating and maintaining neuro-regeneration, from the chamber container are located in an upper side part of the chamber. Each fitting, using a flexible tube, is connected to a port system. Change of solutions is carried out by simultaneous puncture of skin and membrane of port systems with needles for port systems, wherein supply is carried out through one port system with simultaneous extraction of the same quality from the bioreactor container through the second port system.
EFFECT: invention provides an increase in the efficiency of treatment of spinal injury.
