FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for the production of activated carbon. A method for the production of activated carbon from waste of grain-processing and forestry industry is proposed, which includes following stages: extrusion of waste to powder with dispersity of 1-3 mm, granulation of waste to obtain pellets, drying at a temperature of 120-180°C, movement of pellets with a horizontal screw to a lower part of a carbonation furnace for heating to a temperature of 300-850°C without access of oxygen. Next, a mixture of gas and coke is supplied to a cyclone, where it is separated into coke and pyrolysis gas, coke is directed with the horizontal screw to a lower part of a thermal-gas activation furnace, where it is heated to 700-900°C due to a direct contact of inner walls of the activation furnace and vertical plates inside its case to obtain activated carbon, which is cooled to 30-40°C, and it is supplied to packaging. An installation is also proposed, including a hopper, an extruder, a granulator, a dryer, horizontal screws, a carbonation furnace, and an activation furnace, cyclones, a cooling device, and a hopper for packaging of activated carbon.
EFFECT: obtainment of activated carbon of high strength, with given shape and size, increased adsorption surface of carbon, increase in the efficiency of a method, while reducing energy consumption and increasing performance of carbonation and activation furnaces.
