FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for synthesising 5-hydroxymethylfurfural (5-HMF) and furfural. Method includes carbonation of the biomass in a batch reactor by means of thermal energy generated in an external apparatus, unloading of the resulting hydrocoke and liquid fraction from the reactor, separation of the hydrocoke from the liquid fraction and isolation of the resulting 5-HMF and furfural due to the boiling points thereof being different (116 °C and 162 °C, respectively), in a tower apparatus blown with vapour or nitrogen, and use of the resulting hydroxide as fertiliser or as a raw material for producing activated carbon. The carbonation of biomass herein is implemented in a reactor with a fluidised bed formed by particles of the crushed biomass and preserved suspended by a stream of superheated water vapour under an excess pressure of no more than 0.07 MPa and at a temperature of 300 to 350 °C.
EFFECT: shorter required duration of the process of synthesising 5-HMF, structural simplification, and higher reliability of the unit for the implementation of the proposed method for synthesising 5-HMF.
