SUBSTANCE: area of application: the invention relates to hydroacoustic equipment, more specifically, to the field of active sonar, including active sonar apparatus made for detecting objects, measuring the coordinates and parameters of motion of the detected objects, and classifying the detected objects. Substance: active sonar with object classification is implemented in the first variant by averaging the a posteriori probabilities over various frequencies of a multi-frequency echo signal, and in the second variant, by averaging the classification parameters over various frequencies of a multi-frequency echo signal.
EFFECT: higher probability of correct classification of the detected object due to the provided possibility of determining the classification parameters by a multi-frequency echo signal.
