FIELD: controlling equipment.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to control and management of an escalator. An escalator with an electronic drive control system is proposed, containing a differential capacitive sensor consisting of sequentially connected first and second capacitors and a two-phase AC generator connected to the capacitive sensor. An AC amplifier and an AC-to-DC converter are sequentially connected to the differential capacitive sensor. Metal balustrade sheets isolated from conductive elements of an escalator structure are used as linings of the first capacitor of the differential capacitive sensor.

EFFECT: solution is aimed at protection from vandalism of a drive control system of an escalator.
