FIELD: shaping.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to production of wear-resistant flooring tiles and equipment lining utilised under high abrasive loads, and can be used in the building, metallurgical, mining and chemical industries. Raw material mixture for manufacturing articles by synthetic stone casting includes liquid-molten blast furnace slag and natural sand and contains the components in the following ratio, % wt.: blast furnace slag 60 to 90.0; natural sand 10 to 40; wherein the total content of SiO2 and Al2O3 in the mixture is, % wt.: 35 to 65 and 5 to 15, respectively. The raw material mixture may contain a crystallisation rate modifier in an amount of 0.5 to 5% wt. The method includes the stages of pouring the liquid-molten blast furnace slag into a furnace at a temperature of 1,200 to 1,400 °C, adding sand with a content of SiO2 not below 85% wt., heating the resulting mixture to a temperature of 1,410 to 1,500 °C, holding the resulting melt at said temperature for 20 to 90 minutes, and subsequently casting the melt into moulds. The melt is cast into moulds preheated to a temperature of 300 to 550 °C. The moulds with the melt are cooled to a temperature below 300 °C at a rate of no more than 0.5 degrees per minute.
