FIELD: resource-saving technologies.
SUBSTANCE: method for the production of mineral wool made from waste from the blast furnace process. The method for producing mineral wool involves loading a raw material mixture into a furnace in the form of liquid-molten furnace slag with a temperature of at least 1200°C and natural sand, subsequent holding of the charge in a furnace, during which electricity is supplied with a total power of 400–700 kW/t of charge, subsequent release of the resulting melt and its centrifugation. The ratio of components in the raw material mixture is, wt.%: liquid-molten furnace slag – 50-80; natural sand – 20-50, with the total content of SiO2 and Al2O3 in the charge being 45-70% and 5-15%, respectively. Natural sand is fed into the furnace, preferably at a temperature of 80-120°C. The SiO2 content in natural sand is at least 93.0 wt.%. The melt before centrifugation has an acidity modulus of 1.3-1.7.
EFFECT: developing a method for producing mineral wool, which allows reducing energy costs and the carbon footprint during its production while maintaining the quality and properties of the resulting mineral wool.
