FIELD: vacuum and plasma electronics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of vacuum and plasma electronics and can be used to improve and create new types of gas-discharge devices (lasers, O-type devices, etc.). The cold cathode of a gas-discharge device with a glow discharge is made of magnesium-doped aluminum in the form of a cylindrical cup with an expanded diameter of the open end, and the open end of the cylinder is made in a rounded cross section. The wall thickness of the cylinder is made gradually decreasing in thickness from the open end to the bottom, the inner surface of the cylinder is made rough, and the outer surface is made polished. The cathode additionally contains an installation holder made of a material with low thermal conductivity and attached to the outer side of the bottom of the cylinder.
EFFECT: increasing the service life of the cold cathode of a gas-discharge device with a glow discharge.
