SUBSTANCE: invention can be used to record the laying route, depth of a cable in soil, and the characteristics of the soil. Method for recording a cable route in soil, consisting in determining and recording the coordinates of laying of the cable route and the depth of the cable in the soil, wherein characteristic features of the soil are additionally assessed, and the assessment; wherein the recording of the cable route, the depth of the cable, the assessment and recording of the characteristic features of the soil are performed directly in the process of laying the cable by the cable-laying machine, wherein the coordinates of the moving cable-laying machine is determined by means of a satellite navigation system; the depth of the cable is determined by means of a soil immersion depth sensor for a working body or a plough; the characteristic features of the soil are assessed by means of an apparatus for assessing the characteristic features of soil; based on the coordinates of the moving cable-laying apparatus, the laying route of the cable is built on a graphical model, recording the depth of the cable and the characteristic features of the soil; the results of recording the laying of the cable route displayed on the graphical model are stored in the database of the electronic computer system of the cable-laying machine.
