FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for conducting exothermic equilibrium reactions, in particular to synthesis of methanol by heterogeneous catalytic conversion of synthesis gas containing hydrogen and carbon oxides in the presence of solid catalysts. A method for the production of methanol by conversion of raw synthesis gas containing hydrogen and carbon oxides is presented, including following stages: (a) provision of a reactor containing several reaction chambers in a reactor shell, each of which includes following sequentially connected nodes, which are in fluid connection to each other: (aa) a preheating zone suitable for heating of a raw material mixture or a gaseous product flow from the reaction chamber located upstream, (ab) at least one reaction zone containing a catalyst active relatively to the exothermic equilibrium reaction to be conducted, in the form of a stationary catalyst layer, and a cooling device in a heat exchange relationship with the catalyst layer, (ac) at least one cooling zone containing a cooling device suitable for cooling of a flow of a partially converted gaseous product, which is filled with a condensed reaction product, and which exits the reaction zone before a temperature below a dew point of this gas, (ad) a deposition zone containing a phase separation device for separation of a product flow, which exits the cooling zone, into a gaseous product flow, which has been released from condensate, and a condensate flow containing a liquid reaction product, (ae) a means of removal of the condensate flow containing a liquid reaction product, (af) a means of removal of the gaseous product flow, which has been released from condensate, and a means of supply of this gaseous product flow to the subsequent reaction chamber located downstream, or a means of removal of the gaseous product flow from the method, (b) provision of raw synthesis gas containing hydrogen and carbon oxides and its introduction into the reactor, (c) at least partial conversion of raw synthesis gas in the reactor under conditions of conversion into methanol, (d) removal of a flow of a liquid reactor product containing methanol and water from the reactor, (e) removal of a synthesis gas output flow and recirculation of this synthesis gas output flow into the reactor with a fixed recirculation coefficient and/or removal of the synthesis gas output flow from the method.
EFFECT: invention provides a high degree of conversion based on target products of an exothermic reaction and the possibility of optimization of reaction conditions along a longitudinal coordinate of a reactor, which, in synthesis of methanol, leads to a decrease in a recirculation coefficient.
