FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to a method of producing methanol by converting an injected stream of synthesis gas containing hydrogen and carbon oxides, and to an apparatus for realizing said method. Proposed method provides for 2-step, heterogeneous catalytic synthesis of methanol, in which a product in the form of methanol, formed at each synthesis step, is removed by condensation, the rest of the residual gas is used in the downstream synthesis stage or, after removal of the purge flow, is recycled to the first synthesis stage as a recycle flow. Substream is removed from the fresh gas in the form of synthesis gas and introduced into the second reactor for methanol synthesis as a bypass stream. Flow rate of the bypass stream of fresh gas introduced into the second reactor for methanol synthesis varies continuously or in steps during the catalyst cycle, and the second methanol synthesis reactor has the form of a gas-cooled reactor (GCR). In addition, the feed stream of the first reactor passes through the second gas-cooled reactor for synthesis of methanol in direct flow with the product stream of the second reactor and is accordingly heated from the product stream of the second reactor due to indirect heat exchange.
EFFECT: achieving more uniform volumetric velocity of catalysts located in separate reactors, as well as improved temperature control in them.
