FIELD: cell biology; medicine.
SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to cell biology and medicine, namely to a method for prediction of hematogenous development of distant metastases in patients with breast carcinoma. For implementation of the specified method, circulating tumor cells in blood are detected and calculated before the treatment, using an EpCAM epithelial molecular marker. At the same time, using an interference microscope, only EpCAM-positive tumor cells of an irregular shape are studied. If three or more such cells are detected in 6-7.5 ml of blood, while their diameter exceeds 20 mcm, and the greatest phase height is equal to or exceeds 220 nm, a high risk of development of hematogenous metastases is predicted.
EFFECT: present invention allows for diagnostics of a high risk of hematogenous metastasis at the earliest stages of detection of breast carcinoma, which provides a possibility of intensification of a volume of therapeutic measures, their order, and duration, selection of drugs from an available list with the highest therapeutic effect, as well as optimization of time intervals of the reference examination to diagnose the progression at the earliest stage.
