FIELD: animal husbandry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to animal husbandry, in particular, to assessment and selection of animals with the desired DGAT1KK genotype. Method includes the stage of assessment of genotypes of the animals by the diacylglycerol O-acyltransferase 1 (DGAT1) gene based on the results of RFLP PCR using oligonucleotide primers: DGAT1 1: 5′ CACCATCCTCTTCCTCAAGC 3′ and DGAT1 2: 5′ ATGCGGGAGTAGTCCATGTC 3′. The animals are assessed based on the results of RFLP PCR, and animals with the desired DGAT1KK genotype are selected on the basis of the butterfat yielding capacity.
EFFECT: possibility of preserving the gene pool of cattle of the Belarus Red breed group.
