FIELD: fine organic synthesis.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to fine organic synthesis and can be used in the chemical and fuel industries for the development and production of fuel additives and "green" solvent. A method is presented for the preparation of gamma-valerolactone by the hydrogenation of levulinic acid (LA) using a Ru/HZSM-5 composite, which includes the interaction of ZSM-5 zeolite with 0.1 N. ammonium chloride solution with stirring for 24 hours, separation of the resulting zeolite by centrifugation, washing to a pH value of 6.5-7.1, followed by drying in a thermostat at 105°C for 3 hours, drying and calcining the zeolite in a muffle cabinet for 15 hours at a temperature of 500°C, impregnation with a solution of ruthenium hydroxotrichloride (Ru(OH)Cl3) in a mixed solvent of 1 ml of distilled water, 1 ml of methanol and 10 ml of tetrahydrofuran, then drying and working up with 0.1 N. sodium hydroxide solution with the addition of hydrogen peroxide, washing with water until a neutral pH value, followed by drying at a temperature of 70°C to a constant weight of the resulting composite 4% Ru/HZSM-5, and carrying out the hydrogenation of LA in an aqueous medium at a temperature from 40°C to 100°C, partial pressure of hydrogen from 0.5 MPa to 2 MPa, stirring speed from 200 rpm to 1000 rpm, and the mass of LA is from 0.75 g to 1.50 g, and the mass of the composite is from 0.01 g to 0.03 g.
EFFECT: invention provides an increase in the manufacturability and efficiency of the process of obtaining GVL.
