SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of random number generators (RNG), in particular to quantum RNG (QRNG) based on switching the polarization of semiconductor lasers with a vertical resonator used to form a random numerical sequence. A quantum random number generator based on polarization switching in a semiconductor laser with a vertical resonator contains: a laser driver that provides control of a semiconductor laser with a vertical resonator operating in amplification switching mode and sending pulses to the polarizer; a polarizer providing resolution of laser pulses by polarization; a photodetector providing reception of polarization-resolved pulses representing a sequence of optical signals of random intensity; a comparator providing digitization of a sequence of pulses from a photodetector; a computing unit connected to the comparator and performing reception and post-processing.

EFFECT: increase in the quality of the randomness of the digitized binary sequence.
