FIELD: quantum cryptography.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to quantum key distribution (QKD) on entangled states. Main proposed application of the invention is the generation of random numbers for algorithms for enhancing security and other algorithms used in QKD systems. Generation of random numbers is carried out using results of quantum measurements in mismatched bases, which are not used in known implementations of similar systems. It can be shown that the sequence of results of such measurements contains a large portion of true quantum randomness. Invention makes it possible to eliminate the need to use external random number generators and thereby reduce the cost of QKD systems on entangled states. To generate random numbers, a randomness extractor is used, to which results of measurements in mismatched bases are sent. Potential statistical shifts are corrected by an extractor, as a result of which a random sequence of high quality is obtained, which is applicable for use in algorithms of QKD systems.
EFFECT: disclosed is a method of generating random numbers for quantum key distribution systems on entangled states.
