FIELD: powdery metallurgy, in particular, production of superhard carbon particles in volume of iron-carbon alloys used in manufacture of articles for operation under wear conditions. SUBSTANCE: method of producing superhard particles sizing up to 0.5 mm consists in pressing of mixture of powders of iron and fullerites, synthesis of superhard carbon particles at high pressures and temperatures and subsequent withdrawal of these particles. The method is distinguished by the fact that isostatic pressure is performed at low pressure of 2.5-4.5 hPa temperature of 1000-1200 C. The invention also covers wear-resistant material containing iron or carbon steel and superhard carbon particles sizing up to 0.5 mm in the amount of up to 20%. EFFECT: increased sizes and number of superhard particle in volume of iron-carbon alloys and production of material whose wear resistance higher wear resistance of known alloys X12M and stellite. 2 cl, 4 dwg
