FIELD: metal working.

SUBSTANCE: metal sheet bending machine containing a punch with an upper tool retaining beam supporting a set of upper bending tools with the corresponding support rods and containing a guide groove opened from below in a first lower hole for receiving the set of upper bending tools, and a side support groove configured to accept and support said support rods and retain the set of upper bending tools, connected to said upper tool retaining beam so as to be capable of sliding movement. The support groove contains one second lower hole allowing support rods to be disconnected from the support groove / connected to the support groove for simultaneous removal of all the upper bending tools of the set of upper bending tools from / insertion thereof into the upper tool retaining beam. The punch comprises one covering element connected to the upper tool retaining beam and configured for linear movement between the closed position, wherein the element covers the second lower hole, and the open position, wherein the element is distanced from and does not cover the second lower hole.

EFFECT: improvement of known bending machines equipped with modular punches and dies, i.e., punches and dies made as a set of bending tools installed on tool retaining beams so as to be capable of sliding movement, as well as a tool chamber and bending tool replacement systems; and development of a bending machine providing the possibility of replacing bending tools, in particular, the upper bending tools, automatically by a fast, simple and precise method, while minimising the idle time of the bending machine.
