SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods for diagnosing the technical condition of rolling bearings, and can be used in all mechanisms having rolling bearings to detect the presence of a rolling element jam, which, if no preventive measures are taken, often leads to the destruction of the bearing and severe consequences to the entire mechanism. A method is proposed for the diagnosis of rolling element jams in the bearing by measuring the parameters of the electrical signal of strain gages mounted on the outer ring of the bearing, analyzing and comparing their values with the data obtained at the reference installation. At the same time, the electrical signal parameters corresponding to the standard operating conditions in the node are graded for strain gauges. As a parameter of the measured electrical signal of strain gages, the value of the stress level of the outer ring is selected, determined at the frequency of rolling element passing along the ring. Strain gauges are installed on the bearing ring at an angle perpendicular to the angle of contact of the rolling elements with the ring on which they are installed. Stress levels are measured at the frequency of rolling elements’ passing along the ring, while the values of stress levels found are compared with the values of stress levels corresponding to the rolling element jams determined at the rolling frequency of rolling bodies along the ring, measured during tests on the reference bench. The onset of rolling element jam is diagnosed if certain stress levels are higher than the stress levels corresponding to the rolling element jam measured at the reference bench.

EFFECT: possibility of timely determination of the rolling elements’ jam and carrying out the necessary preventive measures to eliminate it.
