FIELD: radio engineering.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of radio engineering and is designed to generate a low-frequency rotating magnetic field in space outside a magnetic system with a magnetic induction value of 0.01-0.1 T, can be used in the creation of navigation systems in which a magnetic field is used as a navigation field. The device for creating a rotating dipole magnetic field contains a permanent magnet made in the form of a cylinder of rotation, which is placed on a pivot device, the axis of rotation of which is perpendicular to the generatrix of the cylinder of rotation and passes through its center of mass. The rotation of a permanent magnet in space creates a rotating magnetic dipole field which has different values of the magnetic field induction vector at each point in space, uniquely determined by the coordinates of the object in space. This feature makes enables to use such a magnetic field to solve navigation problems.

EFFECT: present invention enables to reduce the error in determining the location and orientation of the navigation object in space by creating a source of a stable rotating dipole magnetic field.
