SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of metallurgy and can be used in the process of melting in a blast furnace by blowing air through a tuyere located in the lower part of the blast furnace. In the method, the particle size distribution of the coke supplied to the blast furnace is successively measured, and at least the blast flow rate and/or the coke flow rate are adjusted in accordance with the index obtained from the particle size distribution. Wherein, said index represents the relative content of coke powder with a particle diameter of 5 mm or less contained in the coke, or the content of voids in the coke layer.

EFFECT: invention makes it possible to carry out melting in a blast furnace and to stabilize it in the case when there is an increase in the content of coke powder loaded into the furnace during operation of the blast furnace.
