FIELD: measurement technology.
SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to a method for determining the residual amount of liquid material remaining in the lower part of a vertical furnace after the end of the liquid material unloading, a device for its implementation, as well as to a method of controlling operation of a vertical furnace. Method is characterized by that high-temperature reducing gas is produced in vertical furnace by burning carbon using oxygen-containing gas blown through the lower part of the vertical furnace, liquid material is produced as a result of the fact that the high-temperature reducing gas melts and reduces the initial iron raw material charged through the top of the vertical furnace, solid-phase structure is formed in vertical furnace, and liquid material is discharged through outlet of vertical furnace, wherein said method includes determining the residual amount of liquid material by using the expression V=V0+∫(PV(t)−v(t)·ρ)dt, where V is residual amount of liquid material, kg; V0 is initial residual amount of liquid material, kg; PV is the rate of production of liquid material, kg/s, v is the rate of unloading of liquid material, m3/s; ρ is density of liquid material, kg/m3, t is time, s, wherein the unloading speed is calculated using the unloading acceleration, the unloading period and the initial rate of unloading the liquid material through the outlet hole. Proposed device comprises residual amount calculating unit to calculate residual amount of liquid material by said formula.
EFFECT: presenting a method for determining residual amount of liquid material in a vertical furnace at any moment in time without installing a new special sensor or chamber.
