FIELD: medicine; ophthalmology.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of medicine, namely to ophthalmology; it is intended for increasing a thickness of tear film. A polymer eye insert contains one or more mucoadhesive polymers, which are biocompatible with the eye surface and eye tear film, a plasticizer, or a softener. One or more mucoadhesive polymers are HP-guar, hyaluronic acid, or sodium hyaluronate and are present in amount from 80 to 90 wt./wt.% of the polymer eye insert. When introducing the polymer eye insert to the eye arch, a thickness of tear film is increased for at least 30 minutes after introduction.
EFFECT: use of the invention provides slow secretion of lubricant to tear film for lubrication and protection of the eye surface for a long period of time, which allows for reduction in a frequency of introduction of doses and load on a patient, usually associated with the use of local drops.
