FIELD: medicine, ophthalmology.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to soluble polymeric ophthalmic inlays. A polymeric ophthalmic inlay is proposed, the said inlay contains a biodegradable polymer and one or more mucoadhesive polymers biocompatible with the surface of the eye and the tear film of the eye, where one or more mucoadhesive polymers are hydroxypropyl guar, hyaluronic acid, sodium hyaluronate or polyvinylpyrrolidone, and one or more mucoadhesive polymers are present in an amount of from 80 to 90% w/w polymer ophthalmic inlays, provided that the amount of % w/w mucoadhesive polymers and % w/w biodegradable polymer and other components not listed above is 100% w/w; wherein the biodegradable polymer increases the dissolution time of the polymeric ophthalmic insert by at least 15% compared to a control polymeric ophthalmic insert that is the same polymeric ophthalmic inlay, except that no biodegradable polymer is present.
EFFECT: proposed inlays have an increased dissolution time to release lubricants and medicinal products, which improves patient compliance with the treatment regimen.
