SUBSTANCE: invention primarily relates to a multi-hearth furnace (1) designed for heat treatment of a charge of material M containing at least one stirring lever (5) attached to a rotary shaft above each hearth (3) of the furnace and containing stirring teeth (7) fixed perpendicular to the lever, with each stirring tooth (7) having a leading edge tilted from the bottom up, and the inclined leading edge forms the leading edge (70) for the material M to be mixed, while the leading edge (70) of each mixing tooth is tilted so that the width at the bottom of the tooth is greater than the width at the top. The invention also concerns the use of a multi-hearth furnace.
EFFECT: improvement in the mixing of the charge of the material to be heat treated in the furnace.
