FIELD: rocket space sphere.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the rocket space sphere, in particular, to pump-fed liquid rocket engines (LRE) and is intended for use in the engines experimental development, operation and modernization. In steady-state engine operation when the fuel component density and volumetric, hydraulic and mechanical efficiency of the particular pump are constant the similarity maintenance is confirmed by the constancy of the following current pump characteristics values:

where is a fuel component volumetric flow rate, ρinp, ρoutp are a pump input and output pressure respectively, and n is a pump shaft speed. The pump characteristics deviations from the reference ones, which are defined beforehand, are taken as diagnostic attributes. In case of the diagnostic attributes current values unacceptable deviation occurence, fix the pump failure and stop the engine operation.

EFFECT: invention increases the number of LRE pump serviceability issues diagnosing methods and find ways to detect pump failure and engine shutdown before the catastrophic consequences occur.
