FIELD: electrical industry.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used to produce a positive electrode (cathode) material based on layered transition metal oxides for lithium-ion batteries. The use of an additive to an active cathode material for lithium-ion batteries, which acts as a void filler between particles of the main active cathode material, is an active cathode material of the general formula LiaNixMnyCozAvO2, where 0.9≤а≤1.3, 0≤х≤1, 0≤у≤1, 0≤z≤1, v≤0.1, x+y+z+v=1, А is an alloying additive, comprising at least one element selected from the group: Al, Mg, Zr, W, Ti, Cr, V, Ca, Zn, Ga, Sr, Mo, Ru, In, Sc. The method for producing precursor compounds of an additive to an active cathode material includes exposing the reaction mixture to microwave radiation. The method allows to reduce the synthesis time.
EFFECT: to improve the operational characteristics of the active cathode material for lithium-ion batteries, namely, to increase the tap density while maintaining high specific capacity at different charge/discharge rates, and, accordingly, to increase the volumetric energy density.
